Two nearby branches have closure notices at the time of writing (October 2026). The council's branches page says Lewisham Library is temporarily closed while works take place. How do I join?

According to the council's joining page, anyone who lives, works or studies in London can use Lewisham's library service. You can join in person at any branch or online for immediate access to digital content. You need proof showing your full name and current address, which can be paper or electronic: a driving licence, a council tax bill or a household bill from the last three months all count. Children aged 13 and under need a parent or guardian as guarantor. Members can borrow books and get eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and comics through the eLibrary, and a free monthly Home Library Service delivers items to people who cannot visit because of disability, illness, age or caring responsibilities.
